Earlier this year, Hideki Kamiya, creator of Bayonetta, left PlatinumGames. As fans eagerly await his next move, they have been quizzing the developer about his future plans. Kamiya has taken to his YouTube channel to discuss his future and respond to fans' queries.
He revealed that he had envisioned the Bayonetta series as a nine-episode saga. However, he fears he might not be able to realize this dream, and it may die with him. He lamented not owning the Bayonetta IP and suggested that those who do might continue the franchise.
There is worry among fans that without Kamiya's involvement in future games if there are any at all, they may not be up to par. Despite this concern, it is hard to believe that Bayonetta will disappear altogether, given its past critical acclaim and strong sales record. Kamiya himself stated last year he couldn't envision an end for the franchise. Nonetheless, it could be some time before we see any new developments in the series.
