Google Expands Body Temperature Measurement Feature in Pixel Thermometer App to European Users

In a significant enhancement for health monitoring, Google Pixel users in Europe now have the capability to accurately assess their body temperature. This advancement utilizes the Pixel Thermometer application alongside the temperature sensor introduced in the Pixel 8 Pro. The recent Pixel 9 Pro models also feature this sensor. Initially intended for measuring inanimate objects, this functionality was expanded to encompass body temperature measurement earlier in the year within the United States.

With the new upgrade to the Fitbit support page, Google has broadened the availability of body temperature measurement across multiple European nations. This feature complements the existing object temperature measurement functionality available in the Pixel Thermometer app. As reported by 9to5Google, the app interface has been revamped to accommodate this addition, now offering the option to assess one's own body temperature or that of another person. Furthermore, users can sync their Fitbit devices with the app to monitor readings effectively.

The rollout includes a variety of countries, such as Austria, Belgium, Czechia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

To activate the body temperature measurement feature, users first select the “Tap to measure” option and follow a guided four-second setup process. The Pixel phone must then be positioned near the forehead and subsequently moved to either temple. Users also have the flexibility to select an age category: from zero to three months, three months to three years, or over three years. Alternatively, skipping this selection can streamline the operation. Once the process is complete, the results are displayed on the device screen.

Additionally, users can opt to store their temperature recordings in the Recents results tab within the Pixel Thermometer app.
